Love Wales for its language as well as its landscape | Brief letters
A warm Welsh welcome should be deserving of reciprocation (
). And so I would ask all of my English fellow countrymen and women who move to Welsh-speaking communities, in particular, to learn the language. Love not just the vernacular architecture here but also the vernacular. Appreciate not only the landscape but the culture. Embrace this precious thing or it will be lost to all of us.Michael (Meic) Birtwistle

• David Smith has confused his tinned milks (
). “Jelly whip” was actually made from evaporated milk, not condensed. The jelly was made as normal, but with only half the usual amount of water, then allowed to almost set, after which a large tin of evaporated milk was whisked in, and it was allowed to fully set. I loved it made with strawberry or raspberry jelly, but always felt that orange was a mistake.Lillian Adams
